John Lennon portrait

John Lennon - white album Acrylic base with oil glazes on canvas I love this image so much that I have painted two slightly different versions of it. One of these is in the collection of a private buyer on Merseyside and the other is presently hanging in the Mathew Street Gallery (John Lennon Gallery) in my home city of Liverpool. I have attempted to capture, or evoke, a spiritual - enigmatic quality that the original photograph seems to hint at. That denim jacket was an absolute joy to paint and I really went to town with the irridescent textures of cobalt and ultramarine and cerulean blues.
